Our Story

The year 2024 marks the 56th year that Fox's Pride has been raising and showing quality Dairy Goats. It started as a joke when Mary gave Dan a baby goat on Valentines day, but now 56 years later we are raising ADGA registered Nubians, Saanens, and Lamanchas, with a few token Toggenburgs. Now four generations of the family are involved with the herd. We are located in the beautiful hills of Southern NH, in the small town of Mont Vernon.

Over the years our farm has been home to many different types of animals other than dairy goats. The year 2017 sadly marked an end to our Scottish Highlander herd of cattle, which had graced our pastures for 17 years. The curiosity caused by these incredible animals has led to many friendships being formed over the years, with vehicles and individuals on foot often making their way down the driveway to ask questions about them. It was a common sight on a warm summer evening for the whole neighborhood to be pasture side, watching while a cow gave birth in the field. Greeting the new little calf with cheers when they hit the ground, and name suggestions flying around among the crowd. Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed our little cattle herd with us over the years.

We have dabbled in many types of poultry, waterfowl, and rabbits over the years but we primarily focus on the dairy goats now. For hobby we keep a handful of fun birds including "Laughing Chiekens" and Peafowl, some rabbits, and 3 rescue mini pigs.

We are proud to be partners with the Greater Nashua YMCA Camp Sargent. Together with Camp Sargent we have established a very successful educational farm program providing programming in agriculture to the local community throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall. We believe in giving credit, where credit is due and GCH ++*B Halicienda Frosty Marvin deserves most of the credit for the success of our Nubian herd. We have been using Marvin in our herd for 34 years and we have had amazing results with him. Our first kids from Marvin were born in 1983, the year the Marvin died. Our most recent Marvin kids being born in 2023.  We utilize artificial insemination regularly within our herd to diversify our genetics and use animals in our breeding program from around the country.

We have been raising all our kids on heat treated colostrum and pasteurized milk since the early 1980's. We have tested our herd yearly for CAE and have 100% CAE free herd results. All our babies are brought into the house for up to 48 hours after birth and are bottle fed. They are then brought to the barn and bottle fed up to 2 weeks, at that time they are moved to the lamb bar and fed free choice cool milk and yogurt blend. The does and kids are inoculated with BO- SE and CD&T.

We are thrilled to announce that as of 2019 and our ENTIRE herd is G6S normal by either parentage or test!

2023 Recap:
The year 2023 was an exciting one for us. Although we did not travel to as mnay shows as we typically do, we still managed to show our does in 12 rings. Bri was a part of the committee that planned and held the giant 6 ring North Country Showcase in Deerfield, NH. This was a big undertaking for our entire family, so we decided to take it a little easier for the season not travelling to as many far away shows. We plan in 2024 to go back to attending the ME and VT shows we missed this year and hope to add in one or two NY shows.

We had an amazing turn out at the 6 ring Showcase show in June. During this very busy weekend we showed our does under 6 different judges. We managed to finish the championships on 3 different does through the weekend. We won Best of Breed Nubian in multiple rings, as well as Best of Breed Saanen in several rings. We had several junior kids receive their dry leg at this show as well. It was an exhausting and WET weekend but it was a smashing success and we were so proud of our does.

Despite travelling to less shows, we managed to finish the championships on 2 Nubian does (Rose Gold & Pandora), 2 Lamancha does (Patootie & Khaos), and 1 Saanen doe (Jolene). Most of our junior kids received their junior champion legs. We brought home 2 Best in Show wins this season with CH Fox's Pride KPC Spring Wings and Fox's Pride RWI Crazy in Love. Wings received multiple mentions for in contention for Best in Show through the season. CH Fox's Pride ST Sweet Patootie won Best Udder in Show at the Big E.

We ventured down a new path with hosting our first clinics at Fox's Pride this year! Topics included kidding, showing, grooming, and pregnancy. We anticipate offering more in 2024, keep an eye on our Facebook page for those to be announced.

Cheers to a fantastic 2023, and excited for what 2024 brings us!
